Soaring Society of Boulder - Presentation Materials

Would you like to tell others about our sport and the club?

SSB members frequently have the opportunity to spread the word about the sport and the Soaring Society of Boulder and now its easy! The new SSB PowerPoint presentation and video materials are full of pictures, text, sound and video covering all the basics of the sport and the club. These materials are for non-commercial loan to SSB members for the purpose of promoting the sport and the club.

SSB PowerPoint Presentation

This PowerPoint presentation was originally developed by Mark Zivley of the Greater Houston Soaring Association and made available for non-commercial use over the Internet. Many images from the Soaring Society of Boulder were added to make the presentation relevant to the SSB. There are fifteen slides in this presentation that covers the basics including towing, lift types, licensing, badges, contests and of course the Soaring Society of Boulder. Lots of photos an illustrations. While this presentation is relatively complete you are encourages to modify the downloaded file as you see fit. Download the presentation and take it to your next speaking engagement.

File Management - The file is relatively large (1.34 meg) but worth the wait. When you click the download button you open the SSB PowerPoint presentation which may take up to 7 minutes on slow connections. Once open you can preview the presentation in your browser and then use the browsers "Save As" button to save the presentation to a directory on your hard drive for later editing and use. Video Presentation

The SSB also has available a video tape library that can help augment your speaking engagement. These videos can be loaned to SSB members and used for non-commercial purposes.

Video - Discover Soaring - A Transition to Gliders
An introduction to gliders, starting with soaring's history and progressing to FAA licensing requirements. Basic and advanced flight maneuvers are presented from the perspectives of the pilot and observers including in-flight footage, takeoff, tow, airwork, pattern entry, and landing. The video concludes with an overview of cross country, contests and glider sites around the world. 39 minutes.
