SSB Tribute To The Worlds Largest Prairie Dog

Number one attraction for those intrepid pilots making the journey East on I70 must be the Worlds Largest Prairie Dog. Located conveniently just across the Colorado border in Kansas, its unblinking gaze has swept the prairies over countless decades.

Last Update: May 10, 2003

News!!! ....."In the prairie dogs relentless quest for world domination a recent government report shows an average of 27 prairie dogs per acre on Boulder open space land "........                "Boulder prairie dogs triumph over puny government attempts to relocate them... areas declared "cleared" three years ago have been re-colonized up to three times and they still keep coming!!!" .......
Believe it or not this picture is to scale. The Worlds Largest Prairie Dog dwarfs SSB Instructor Pedja Bogdanovich. No trick photography is needed here.
Those with an engineering bent will notice how the great mass of the Worlds Largest Prairie Dog has actually warped the concrete pad on which it nobly rests. Even the mighty buffalo appears insignificant in size as it munches contentedly in the background.

The Worlds Largest Prairie Dog is regarded as a model for single parents worldwide. There are no tattoos, piercings or rave parties scheduled for this little one. Observe how the Worlds Largest Prairie Dog has been preserved for all time by the blast curtain which was tested to 47 megatons. A comfy bench provides the ideal environment for those tranquil contemplative moments. A regulation size prairie dog, highlighted in this image, gives true scale to the massive dimensions of the Worlds Largest Prairie Dog and its sibling.

In this early image, which predates color photography, you will observe how the Worlds Largest Prairie Dog once carried out its solitary vigil. Careful comparison with later images will demonstrate how the Worlds Largest Prairie Dogs features have metamorphosed over time. Some have speculated that this might be a different prairie dog at a different location - possibly one of a series?
It is a matter of national pride that the Worlds Largest Prairie Dog is visible from outer space.
